Yesterday I experienced the biggest career high of my life....
….Watching a sea of Vogue, ELLE & Grazia photographers shoot my makeup heading down the runway at Paris Fashion Week for the Liselore Frowijn On Schedule Catwalk Presenation of her Ready To Wear Spring/Summer 2018 collection at TRANOÏ.
Liselore’s collection was inspired by her experience travelling to Mexico for material. Defiance, strength and power were the themes that influenced her collection.
For makeup, the look was centred around being in the Mexican desert. There was textural contrast in using powders to create a matte finish that represented the dryness of the desert and balms that represented the sweaty heat of the desert on the skin around the forehead, upper lip and chin. I used burnt orange creams to tint the peaks of the cheekbones where the sun would naturally hit and striking words were hand written on the model’s faces like 'No wall' and 'Furiosa' either randomly placed or in the suggestive shape of a Mexican traditional fighting mask.
“I made a twist in the collection to show them as military strong women that are empowering, of course.…It’s all about freedom, with Mexico as a symbol of this. Because a wall can’t prevent people from wanting to be free,” Liselore explained after the show.
In my opinion, you haven’t experienced pressure until you are minutes from show time with a Vogue photographer filming only inches from the face of your model as you complete their makeup look before they’re heading down the runway. But do you know what? It’s a buzz! Especially when you then observe a sea of ELLE, Vogue and Grazia Photographers from all over the world congregated at the end of the catwalk shooting your work.
Today I wake up to find my work published in ELLE Italia, Elle Hong Kong and ELLE Espania. Am I dreaming? @elle_italia @ellehongkong @elle_spain
