Let's take a moment to put that phone on silent, turn it over and switch off.

This is a mantra that I’ve definitely taken with me into 2020, being a female entrepreneur and solo mum has it’s challenges, but is also super rewarding. The days are long and are mostly filled full of social media and client calls however those days don’t seem so hard when i’m doing the things I love.

By now, I’m sure you’ve gathered that I’m Brooke Price, lover of CHANEL, pancakes and the TATE, but most relevantly, a Global Makeup Artist and Female Entrepreneur. Trust me when I say, It's not always as glamorous as it seems.

As a chunk of my time requires me to be at my laptop, I sometimes find my space between home and work to become a joint space and that's why I find that it's super important to move about and find new spaces to work. The two places I switch my time from are my office space just off Oxford Street, London and my local coffee spot near home. That way I can escape my personal bubble, sit somewhere equally beautiful with my laptop and enjoy a delicious coffee!

As a mother to my two sassy, wonderful daughters, my priority is that come school pick up I’m present for family time until they settle for bed. However, the reality is that, being a female entrepreneur too can sometimes mean those lines get blurred and client calls happen after dinner or during bath time from time to time. It really is a juggle but a life that I choose and love.

The joy of the modern world today is the conveniences we have at our fingertips and when it comes to meal times, I have to say that I don’t enjoy cooking one bit. I also hold a lot of value on healthy eating (most of the time! ;) ) So the solution of late that has been saving me no end of time and stress supermarket shopping, planning meals and scrambling for recipes to keep us going, is Gusto. My girls and I have been LOVING this service as it allows us to sit and plan a week ahead what meals we want to enjoy together - like choosing from a menu in a restaurant except you decide which meals you want to enjoy for the week ahead, not just that evening.

Seriously, I’m not your Mary Berry kinda mum, but cooking with Gusto where the recipes are given to you on a card and everything is measured out for you, is GAME CHANGER people! Coming together and sitting down over a delicious and balanced home cooked meal is simply bliss. After dinner chilling time right now has us , watching and loving Queer Eye - “Yes hunny” ( Johnathon ) This Netflix show is super uplifting and we just love seeing the transformations that take place both to the persons home, image and internal world through the powers of love, style and nurturing. It’s also sends a valuable message to my girls that the world is diverse and beautiful and that each of us will find lasting joy in embracing and celebrating our unique identity. Something I feel hugely passionate about facilitating for my clients.

So taking it back to where we began - switching our phones off.. Even for an hour or two….

As we know, we live in a world where we use our phones for everything - For me, it’s constant. I ask siri to google stuff for me, Im on Social media and being present online is a huge portion of my business, so having that strong determination to disconnect even for an hour or two is super important. -esecially during social and family time.

Being fully present in the moment without our phones allows balance into our lives and hugely supports a healthy mindset. Take that time to truly appreciate your surroundings and the people you’re with.

So, as I sign off here, If you too recognise that you’re consumed by the online world for much of your day, I want to encourage you to commit to disconnecting from your phone more frequently to experience life in all its real, honest and authentic beauty.
